Hello and goodbye: Creating community in transition
Every fall in fact, every semester new students come and other students go. How to use ritual and tradition to help integrate students quickly, build a strong community year after year, and release graduates to be strong advocates on the college and vital members of the church. We will be sharing some of our old and new ideas and elicit sharing from others who are gathered.
The Rev. Nancy E. Brink is the director of church relations at Chapman University. The director is the active representative of our Disciples heritage. Brink works closely with students, recruiting among Disciples on Campus (DOC) and United Church of Christ communities, supporting the DOC ministry and providing pastoral leadership on campus as well as at regional and national gatherings. Prior to comign to Chapman, Brink served as pastor of North Side Christian Church for 20 years. She has taught world religions at the college level and is the founder of Connections, a Christian coalition of congregations devoted to social justice. Brink also brings to the Chapman educational mission extensive experience as a global traveler, youth minister and spiritual mentor for college students. She holds a B.A. in religion from Texas Christian University and an M.Div. from the Divinity School of Vanderbilt University. Contact information: brink@chapman.edu, 402.312.0409
