Come to the Feast

Trayce Stewart Whether we like it or not, young adults are at that phase of life where we now make up the future of the church. It is imperative that we make a stand to encourage each other and those who have fallen off track. So how do we do this? This is exactly what the Come to the Feast Celebration that was held in Portland, Oregon addressed. From May 24-May 29 young adults and those who work with them gathered to discuss and find ways to mobilize our future generation.

This wasn't your typical young adult conference where you sit in meetings all day. Instead it was a worship filled week where everyone got to share their faith despite their denominational background. Everyone was able to contribute in their own special way. Everyone left feeling empowered to take things to the next level for their own ministries. We explored ways of having real faith in the real world, how to successfully build a community of young adults that extends beyond Sunday morning worships, renewing ourselves as a generation, individuals, and our leaders, and different ways of expressing our faith in today's society.

So what do we do now? I encourage each of you to take a look at the comments and suggestions on how to strengthen the young adult ministry you are currently involved in. For these notes you can go to www.cometothefeast.org. Don't be afraid to try things that seem unconventional or that go against what you've always done. If you keep doing the things that you've always done, you will always get what you've had. As young adults we must find our niche in the church and world if we are going to have any future at all.
